Mini Style: How to Style a Bold & Colorful Sweater
Color me obsessed with this Cat & Jack for Target sweater! I missed whatever season it was sold in-store, but I have found it twice for Brooklyn via resale: in her current size at a pop up shop with mom + kid resale site LACH, and then in the next largest size on Poshmark! Buying the same item in multiple sizes basically creates an outfit formula for your growing toddler! You can repeat the same, or similar outfits, even as they continue to grow, saving you (1) time figuring out how to put things together (2) stress, if getting your little one(s) dressed in the morning, among your many other mom duties, is overwhelming, AND (3) money, because you can just replace the things that coordinate with those items, as opposed to pulling together and purchasing entirely new outfits. Even with this outfit, for example, the peach colored tee is something else I bought in the next size up—she wore the onesie version with this same sweater last year.
When Brooklyn wears this fun little sweater, with its very bold pattern, I like to keep the rest of her outfit kind of neutral and let the sweater be the shining star. In the past I’ve paired it with grays with subtle patterns or sparkle, and with denim overalls. In this case, the winter white sparkly leggings + the white & gold dot puffer vest were her neutrals, and I added a complementary solid peach top underneath.
I actually bought the white sparkle leggings as a layer for underneath her Halloween costume, but I never buy anything I don’t know for sure she can wear at least 3 times or more! I knew for sure that a winter white neutral could be styled multiple ways, and she could wear them with multiple things she already owns.
