Mini Style: 5 Easy Steps to Weekly Wardrobe Planning

Weekly Wardrobe Planning in 5 Easy Steps | Pish Posh Perfect

They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content, and one of the ways I set myself up for success for the week, and save time on weekday mornings, is by taking some time on Sundays to plan Brooklyn’s outfits for the entire week. I’m sure you’ve heard or seen people suggest doing this for yourself, but I think it is just as important, if not more so, to do it for your littles too. How else can you pad in time for the inevitable mornings where the unexpected happens: your toddler is at her most uncooperative, won’t eat, or decides to throw a good ole’ tantrum?

This process is super easy and it literally takes me 30 minutes when I can get through it without interruptions. Here are 5 super easy steps to toddler weekly outfit planning:

5 Step Weekly Wardrobe Planning for Littles

One

Check the weather. This is an obvious one if you live in the northeast like we do, and, particularly towards the end of fall, when there’s no telling what Mother Nature will do. (We literally had snow flurries for five minutes one day, and then the sun came back out!) This also allows me to build outfits around things like if she’ll need her rain boots or a particular jacket. So if you like to build outfits around one particular item or article of clothing, this will help you too.

Two

Check your schedule and your toddler’s. Does she have an activity that day that she needs comfy clothes for? Does she have a swim class or a lesson that afternoon that requires bare feet or the ability to change quickly? Does she need layers for a cooler morning and a warmer afternoon outdoors. Thinking ahead of these things saves you time in figuring them out later!

Three

Pull out your tops and bottoms, and mix, match, or pair them up accordingly. My daughter almost always wears leggings to daycare, so that makes it easier to decide what to go for. Having an outfit “formula” so to speak can help you skip around some things you definitely won’t need—for us, that’s her jeans, which are usually (but not always) reserved for weekends.

Four

Add everything else they’ll need to wear with that outfit. Pull out all the undergarments, socks, shoes, jacket, hair bows etc, that you would want to complete the look.

Five

Hang each outfit, together with all it’s accessories, in a spot that is easily accessible for grabbing each day. I like to hang the next day’s outfit on the front of the closet door, with the shoes on the floor underneath; and the remaining outfits hang right at the front of the closet where I can literally open the door and just grab them. It helps to have everything together as a time saving measure, and also if someone else, like your husband, a grandparent or a nanny is going to be getting your little one dressed. My husband is on “get the toddler dressed” duty every morning, and I style her hair, so this way he doesn’t have to guess, ask me a ton of questions, or go looking for anything he needs to get our girl ready to head out the door.
