Fall Outfit Formula: Mommy & Me Transitional Style

Fall Outfit Formula: Mommy & Me Transitional Style

I like to wear my summer dresses well into the fall, making them seasonally appropriate by adding a long sleeved top, jacket or light sweater, and finishing with a closed toe shoe.

We have been having quite the transitional weather this fall—one day it’s 70 degrees and the next, it’s 90! The easiest way to dress when you’re not sure about the weather is in layers.

I pulled together this coordinated mommy & me outfit formula for a Sunday when Brooklyn & I were going to be outside for the majority of the day:

  • Dresses in the same color story, mine this easy black palm print dress; hers a solid, subtly sparkly green that matched the green in my dress’ palms

  • Denim tops, that could be worn in the early morning when it’s still chilly out and then removed later in the day when it gets  warmer

  • Closed toe shoes, matching Adidas sneakers in this case

A dress + a layer + a cute closed toe shoe like a sneaker, a mule or a bootie wins every time! What’s your favorite outfit formula for transitioning from summer to fall? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
