SheaMoisture Spot Correcting Goodness // Posh Product Review

With the dry skin from my eczema comes hyperpigmentation and dark spots, which can make me feel a little self-conscious. So when I got the

SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Spot Correcting Moisturizer

in a

COCOTIQUE

Box a couple of months ago, I was really curious to see if it would help to lighten those highly visible areas around my neck and chest.

The product

:

SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Spot Correcting Moisturizer w/ Songyi Mushroom

The claim

:

Brighten and Tone Dull, Uneven Skin

The ingredients

Made with natural and certified organic ingredients. Coconut Oil nourishes and moisturizes skin with Vitamin E and K, iron and fatty acids. Hibiscus Flower is a natural emollient which treats dry, rough skin and helps improve skin tone. Songyi Mushroom naturally brightens and evens skin tone.

I have been very pleasantly surprised to see that it does do what it claims to do!

I didn't see immediate lightening the first time that I began using it, but over time my skin has become much more responsive, now getting a lightened and smoother appearance after the first night that I use it, with the treated areas having a more even skin tone. It's got a good consistency--not too thick, but not runny--and it doesn't leave any weird residue. It also moisturizes well enough to help with the ridiculously pesky itching. I'm obsessed--this is my second jar. The only downside for me, which has nothing to do with the moisturizer, is that my eczema patches continually return because they're triggered internally, so the hyperpigmentation does not go away permanently. However, if you've just got a few leftover dark spots from acne or old bruises, I wouldn't be surprised if you'd see permanent results.
