Style Crush: Solange Knowles
I have a major style crush on Solange Knowles.
The mom-model-dancer-actress-DJ-songstress seemed to come out of her shell a few years ago when she did the big chop, and I have not been able to take my eyes off her since.
Whether playing up color (she looks vibrant in yellow and orange color palettes, as seen above), showing us just how to mix prints or giving glam in a retro pants suit--she is always ahead of the fashion game, always a trendsetter, and her gorgeous fro is often her best accessory.
In close second are her shoes. And as a shoe lover myself, I can't help but drool over the enviable colors, shapes, styles and heel heights in which she parades around the city or on the stage.

I might not be able to wear the same shapes in clothing that this stylish maven does, but her style inspires me to mix and match more--particularly to play around with the bohemian vibe, mixing it in with my more classic, simpler pieces. And it reminds me that no matter what you're wearing, the best way to pull it off is with authenticity and confidence. Because even in her most casual of threads, that's really what stands out about Solange isn't it?
