Well-Organized Closet: Boot Shapers

In the new year, I'd like to give even more thought and focus to how I am storing and caring for my clothing, shoes and accessories: keeping them in the best condition possible, and having them last for as long as possible. One thing in particular that I'd like to snag for my closet are boot shapers.

Currently, I store most of my boots flat and in their original boxes with the original stuffing. The problem with this is that (1) the original paper/cardboard stuffing often deflates over time and (2) they don't keep the material from folding or developing wrinkles or creases (which my leg itself creates plenty of because of the difference in size from my calf to my ankles). So I think it's time to institute a new solution that helps to keep my boots in good condition and helps me to save space because boxes take up so much room in my closet.

Both Target and The Container Store have decent options (check them out here and here) for about $10 per pair. The Container Store has an option in hot pink, which is obviously on my radar. Other than the color, however, I haven't seen much that distinguishes one boot shaper option from another. I have seen tons of DIY options from empty water bottles, to rolled up magazines....but I think I'd prefer to purchase.

What do you use to keep your boots in great shape in your closet? Do you buy or DIY?
