Natural Skin Care Regimen {Guest Post}

My good friend, AB, is one of my go-to gurus for advice on beauty and natural hair and skin care. She is a veritable encyclopedia of oils, potions and recipes--and can easily breakdown the complicated medical terminology that can confuse consumers and hide things that are not so great for the skin, without batting an eyelash. So, naturally, I’ve asked her to write a guest post and to spread the wealth of her knowledge.

I want to thank Kim for inviting me to do a guest post on my beauty regimen. I am such a scatter brain, that I actually have several different regimens that use--depending on how much time I have to get ready. Given the cold mornings of late, I’ve taken to lingering in bed as long as possible. So that’s the routine I’ll share first.

Not a Minute to Spare Mornings

1. Wash my face with Avalon Organics CoQ10 Facial Cleansing Milk using my Clarisonic Mia. The cleansing milk is a very gentle and organic cleanser that does not strip my face.

2. Then I spray my face with a homemade toner. My toner consists of Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea, Jojoba Oil, and Tea Tree Oil. I let my skin air dry.

3. As my final step, I apply my moisturizer. Currently, I am using Shea Radiance Shea & Baobob Antioxidant Cream. SUPER MOISTURIZING! A little of this cream goes a long way.

At night I just wipe my face down with witch hazel and apply Anita Grant Sapote Oil to moisturize. (Sapote Oil is rich in vitamins A,B,C and E, proteins, and fatty acids – a great moisturizer for dry skin.)

Weekly Deep Cleaning Treatment

Once a week, I treat my skin to a bentonite clay mask. I purchased the clay at The Vitamin Shoppe for $7 a year ago, and I still have about half the jar. I take about one and a half tablespoons of the clay and mix it with about a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. I might add more vinegar as needed until I get the mixture to have the consistency of pudding. I cover my face and neck in the clay mixture and leave it on until it dries. (NOTE: IF YOU USE THIS MIXTURE, YOU WILL FEEL YOUR FACE PULSATE--THIS IS NORMAL.) After the mask is completely dry, I take a hot washcloth and wipe it off my face. I take a toner and apply evenly over my face and neck, then apply Sapote Seed Oil.

Here’s to beautiful vibrant skin! What’s your regimen and what products are you currently using?
