I have found some of my best sartorial scores during end of season sales. It's a fantastic time to get all the inventory for which retailers no longer have room. I've not quite mastered the art of shopping seasons ahead, and I get excited to wear things right away, so I look for pieces that are seasonless and will work in my closet all year long. These are some of the sale items I am crushing on at the moment.
Alexander Wang Draped stretch-sateen jersey dress
- A fabulous long sleeved, draped version of the little black dress--it looks uber sleek and ultra comfy. It would work well even in the summer, for an evening indoor affair.
The Cambridge Satchel Company classic satchel
- A Cambridge Satchel has been on my wish list for about a year now, so I am seriously eyeing this one--in my favorite color, no less! I wear pink in all her shades, all year 'round.
Pour La Victoire Vivie Suede Bootie
- Though they are suede, the peep toe and cut-out along the top of the bootie make this workable across seasons. Wear it in spring with a casual body conscious dress and long sweater; in fall with a flirty dress and leather jacket; or in winter with a sweater dress.
- Our eyes need protection from the sun all year around--especially when driving. Now that I've discovered I can totally wear aviators with my face's shape, I am nothing short of obsessed with the style.
Kenneth Jay Lane Multi Strand Cluster Necklace
- These beautiful clusters of beads will work well for an 'all black everything' sort of look, or for toning down lots of bright color.
- A saucy sandal is a closet MUST for evening occasions. In summer they'll make bare legs look miles long (unless you're a short girl--and in that case, be careful of where the strap hits your ankle); in winter add black opaque tights for monochromatic leg lengthening goodness.
- Blazers are a style savvy closet staple, and it's fun to play around with them in varying colors shapes and sizes. Don't get locked into envisioning this white Tibi jacket just for spring; also imagine it layered under a graphic print coat for winter--it is multi-functional.
Kate Spade Lip Crayons Box Set
- Soft pinks, nudes and wine colors are perfect for creating neutral looks in any season. I've not yet tried the drama of a lip pencil, but I think I could definitely get into it!
LK Designs Yellow Golden Scrollwork Chandelier Earrings
- These have a very similar feel to the amazing Dolce & Gabbana Chandelier earrings that appeared on Vogue.com a few months ago. I love how luxurious they are!
- Blue tends to look great against the red undertones of my skin, so I wear shades of navy nail color often. I like the slightly purple-ish/gray-ish notes in this one from Essie.
