Style Savvy Birthday Beach Vacation {Puerto Rico}

Forgive the iPhone photos! I brought my fancy camera along, but honestly I barely ever pulled it out: On the beautiful beach at Isla Verde // soaking up the sun by the pool in my massive sunnies from Nordstrom, pink Asos suit under a striped maxi dress (it was a bit breezy that morning) // breakfast poolside in my fav summer fedora from Target, polka dot suit from Asos and H&M cover up // beach bathroom selfie! Headed to dinner at Ruth's Chris in a striped maxi from H&M // AB's hair loved the humidity--gorg! // one of the pool's many waterfalls // my little piece of heaven // these guys were everywhere! They ruled the pool area // shrimp taquitos in Old San Juan. yum!

Happy Monday, Lovies!! My birthday week comes to a close and it is back to the grind today, but it was an absolutely amazing birthday week--starting with a beach trip to gorgeous Puerto Rico. Let's recap, shall we?

AB and I arrived at the Intercontinental Resort in Isla Verde on Monday afternoon, and headed straight to the beach cafe for food and cocktails while we waited for our room to be ready. The resort was breathtaking, with a lobby bar, wine lounge, casino, 4 restaurants, a spa/fitness center, huge pool with swim up bar, jacuzzi and a short walk from the pool right out onto the beach. We literally didn't have to leave the resort for a single amenity. When our room was ready, we headed up for a "quick" nap--but jet lag soon set in. So when we awoke later, we took advantage of the 24-hour room service. I inhaled the yummiest, cheesiest, creamiest pesto penne primavera EVER, followed by a slice of birthday cheesecake, and a champagne toast with AB to kick off our vaca. The rest of our stay at the resort was filled with breakfasts pooside, cocktails from the pool bar, lunch at the beach cafe, dips in the cool pool and the warm ocean, massages and facials at the spa and amazing dinners at the resort's restaurants. We had the most delicious calamari I've ever tasted at Ruth's Chris--it had a sweet Asian drizzle that was to die for; and, in the Italian restaurant, I stuffed myself with the best risotto I have had since we left Italy--it was perfection. On the last day of our trip, we cabbed it into Old San Juan to take in the culture there, along with outlet shopping and lunch at a cute little outdoor cafe called Toro Salao, where the food was really tasty, and the portions were huge. If I had to sum up our trip in a word, it would be relaxed--and that was just what I needed. I feel so refreshed and ready to take on these last few weeks of winter!

I hope last week was fabulous for you all as well--let's look forward to making this one great!
