70s Peasant Dress | Style Savvy Weekend Rewind

This weekend was mainly characterized by polar opposites in my eating habits. On Friday night, I engaged in pool time with AB and our friend FH, after which we inhaled Chinese food—which wouldn’t have been so bad since I generally only eat broccoli; except that I ate an entire crab wonton appetizer by myself. And I enjoyed it.

Clockwise from top left: pool time / Jalea at Salsa Grill: crab cake, calamari, shrimp and fried fish / Saturday night dinner outfit. Channeling the 70s with this oldie but goodie peasant dress from Old Navy, gold hoop earrings from Francesca's, Nine West belt, tribal wedges by Madden Girl (also seen here), an orange bag from Banana Republic and my huge bun. / fresh fruit / fresh flowers to brighten up the room / Sunday afternoon snack of dill Havarti slices, flaxseed crackers and fruit

On Saturday AB and FH took me to their favorite Latin restaurant for dinner. At Salsa Grill, we had the most delicious spinach empanadas, and I ordered the Jalea, or seafood platter with steamed veggies and seasoned rice, as my entrée. As I ordered, I figured a few fried foods wouldn’t kill me; then I got the biggest basket of seafood ever put in front of me, along with a separate plate of the veggies and rice. There was no way I could eat the entire portion, but everything tasted great. For dessert, we ordered apple cherry cobbler, cheesecake and strawberry shortcake to share, which we took to go and paired with a great bottle of Moscato and a movie. Overall, I enjoyed Salsa Grill. It is a little pricey, but you get huge portions so it’s a good value for your money.

On Sunday, I felt it necessary to counteract all my fried indulgences by running 3 miles, then heading to the farmer’s market and my local organic market for some fresh goods. I brought home lots of fresh fish, fruits and veggies, local cheeses and a bouquet of fresh flowers. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of carnations, but this bunch smelled great and at $4.50 was a steal. They freshened up my dining room tablescape very nicely.

I’ll be working hard this week between the full time job and freelance stuff—starting with a social media presentation this afternoon. I’m looking forward to the challenge of getting everything done!
