The Search for the Perfect Desk

I've been in my condo for just over a year now, and I haven't finished updating my decor. I have a very specific vision in my head for how I want it to look and feel, and I'm willing to wait for the right, special pieces to bring into the mix.

One of the things that is highest in priority to get though is a desk. Since I write so often, it is much more practical and conducive to accomplishment to do it at a desk. I can finally set up a filing system, and have all my calendars, notebooks and other materials in one place.

But it's also way inspiring to designate a space that's specifically for creating. I envision books, inspiration boards and pages torn from magazines littering the desk (in an organized way of course).

I've found that two specific--but opposing--styles of desk speak to me: ones that fit in with a very sleek and modern vibe; as well as very heavy, solid colored vintage desks.

Modern

Vintage

More than anything else, I want something that's really unique and that blends into my existing furniture without matching it too much. For that reason, I think a vintage style might work best, but we'll see what happens. I have a list of a couple of places to visit in Baltimore like Great Finds and Design and Bella Cose, and I'm going to make it a point to look for online pieces that won't be doubled in price by shipping costs.

Where do you go for great pieces of furniture for your home?
