Happy Friday, Lovies! If your week has been anything like mine, challenging might accurately describe it--but, we're almost at the end of it! TGIF! I will still be working on a few projects this weekend, but it tends to be easier to do so on Saturday and Sunday when most other people are not working--less pressure. But I do have some fun scheduled this weekend too that I'm looking forward to getting into with gusto. The bestie, KK, is bursting at the seams with a new bundle of joy and the girls and I have planned her shower for Saturday. I can't wait to hang out and dote on her on her special day. And then I'll be attending a birthday dinner for another friend on Sunday. Girl time is good for the soul, so bring on the weekend!
I've missed sharing with you guys little tidbits about my weekends, and the links that I've loved throughout the week. To be honest, I hadn't had much time for cruising the web, but I determined that I needed to get back into the habit--there's so much inspiration to be drawn there!
So here are some of my favorite discoveries and linky-loos from the week:
It's probably no surprise to you that I'm starting with COCOTIQUE, since I am the editor of the lovely little online magazine (shameless plug). There's some really cool DIY content from one of our beauty writers that you should definitely peruse and prepare to want to try, like this Edible Lip Scrub and this leopard accent nail using OPI's 'I Knead Sour Dough' polish (which you received in January if you're a COCOTIQUE subscriber! Not a subscriber? We can fix that here). There is also a whole column of gorgeous items that our team is totally coveting.
Essence.com published a 214 photo slideshow of EPIC brown girl street style from NYFW. Prepare to rethink everything in your wardrobe--in a good way. You'll also likely recognize some celebs as well as your favorite bloggers/vloggers.
One of my favorite monthly reads is Matchbook Magazine, and I discovered a lovely new women-owned start up brand in the February issue. Cuyana is all about "the lean closet" and buying "fewer better things", something I've been striving to do over the past few years. Their clothing just looks luxe and like something you can have in your closet for years. Matchbook really covers the back story of the brand though, and that's what drew me in. I really love reading about the entrepreneurial spirit in women. It's exciting and encouraging that more and more we are exhibiting the bravery to chart our own paths--both in fashion and in a variety of fields.
If you work in a traditional 9-5 capacity, and get bored with the standard office wardrobe fare, you might enjoy my new discovery, District Sparkle. Blogger Meaghan puts things together in a way that's professional but interesting. This is one of my favorite looks because it seems so comfortable, but polished at the same time.
And now, I would love to hear from you! Have any posh plans for this weekend? Do spill in the comments.
Whatever you're up to, I hope you're getting a dose of love, magic and whimsy along the way.
p.s. I've started a little newsletter for those that want a few extra sprinkles of love and magic from me that I will be sharing via email before posting here on the blog. I would be thrilled if you'd sign up here.
