It's so much fun to chat with stylish fellow bloggers, like Amberly of A Slice of Glam, so I was honored when she agreed to answer a few questions for us! I love her blog and after discovering we share a favorite color (pink!), I adore her all the more. For our February Savvy Style Chat, I present...
Amberly D’Anna / Lifestyle Blogger / A Slice of Glam
"Hi everyone! I’m Amberly from the fashion and lifestyle blog, A Slice of Glam. Kim is one of my favorite bloggers, and I adore her blog so I was delighted and honored when she asked me to do a Style Chat!"
Most days you’ll find me wearing something like this: a simple tee or blouse, jeans, and statement jewelry.
What is your full time gig?
Monday through Friday I’m a Mortgage Servicing Specialist. It’s not fashion related at all, so I needed a creative outlet and a way to stay updated and connected to the fashion scene. I’ve always loved fashion, magazines, social media, and writing so a blog was natural for me. A couple of my friends from college had fashion blogs, and I was thought, “I can do that!” I brainstormed several names and what I wanted my blog to be about (fashion, beauty, DIY, home décor)…and A Slice of Glam was born!

How does your occupation affect your personal style?
We have a “business casual” dress code and are able to wear jeans every day (thank goodness!). Therefore, a lot of what I wear is very relaxed. Jeans, pants, ballet flats, and a few dresses here and there. I refer to my style as “casual glam”.
In what other endeavors do you participate and how do you transition your wardrobe throughout the day to meet the needs of these various roles?
Right now, I’m gearing up to go back to school so I’m focused on that. More than likely my style will remain the same. I may buy a pair of those trendy gold Superego sneakers to walk around the campus grounds though!
What is your most favorite piece in your wardrobe and how often do you wear it?
My boyfriend jeans from Gap! I love dressing them up with a blazer, or with a pullover sweater for a more laid back look.

How often do you go shopping for new pieces—either in-person or online?
I shop online daily (mostly browsing…haha)! I love searching the Internet for the latest trends, and find that sometimes the sales are even better than in-store. It is a lot easier to find my size, color, click to order, and I’m done! Plus, I love getting packages on my doorstep! So exciting! :-) If it’s for a specific event or last minute, I’ll go into the store to try on different options.
What is your most favorite place of the moment to score great items?
I love Gap, Banana Republic and The Limited for pieces like denim, blouses, and sweaters. The older I get I find that quality over quantity, especially staple items, is essential. For trendy pieces though, Forever 21 and H&M are my go to places.
Which would you say is truer: (A) that your personal style influences the heck out of your blog, or that (B) your blog heavily influences your personal style?
Both, I believe. I think my personal style influences my blog and what I write about. I like to keep a clean, classic and feminine aesthetic and so I try to translate that to my blog. Also since I do blog daily, I’m more conscience of keeping up with my daily style.
My favorite colors to decorate with are white, gray, and gold. I repainted the furniture in my bedroom to white to give it a lighter and brighter feel in the room.
Where do you go to get inspired?
Oh my goodness tons of places. I use Pinterest to get ideas on items I can put together that I already have in my closet, magazines (Glamour, Marie Claire, Vogue) for trends, and blogs of course. Even Instagram! There are some great style bloggers out there that put some fabulous outfits together!
If a stranger walking past you on the street was asked to describe your signature look in one word, what word would that be?
Classic…or glam…or chic…or cute. I guess it depends on the day! :-)
With so many sources of visual inspiration out there, what advice would you give to women about maintaining their own signature looks--even as they’re bombarded by a sea of trends?
Work attire: Blazer (in my favorite color pink!), pants, tee, and wedge heels
With so many trends out there, it’s easy to get caught up and think you have to buy into every one of them! Don’t! I think it’s important to define your own personal style and work in a few new trends that you like that you identify with. One of the great things about fashion is that it’s fun and ever changing, so it’s also important to go outside of your comfort zone every now and then. Basically just do you and rock it!
