Featured: Shea Radiance SR4Target Tastemaker

Earlier this week, I had the honor of being featured at the Shea Radiance site as a Shea Radiance for Target Tastemaker, celebrating the launch of the product line onto local Target shelves. As an avid fan of the brand for some time (you can read my reviews of their products here and here), I'm excited that they'll be so easily accessible in just a couple of weeks. Click here to read my Q&A and huge thanks to the Shea Radiance team for featuring me!

If you haven't had an opportunity yet, you can also check out my July 'Fro Fashion Friday post at the 'Fro Fashion Week blog. I've been deep in a beach state of mind for the past couple of weeks (by the time you read this I'll be on day 2 of vaca with the honey!), so this post focuses on the high-waisted suit. Enjoy!

I am also a social media butterfly (a quick peek at my icons to the right will confirm this), so feel free to follow me/like me/love me/connect with me all over the web on Facebook (Pish Posh Perfect), Twitter (@PishPoshPerf), Instagram (@PishPoshPerf), Tumblr (Pish Posh Perfect) and/or on Pinterest (Pish Posh Perfect).

Wishing you lovelies a fabulous weekend!

Summer Beauty Trends – Pop of Color {Guest Post}

All summer, I've been admiring AB in fabulous brightly hued lips--but have not been bold enough to try them on my own. So I asked her for a little guidance in choosing the right one and making it work for me--and of course, I had to share the tidbit here as well.

I have a great deal of things on my financial plate right now – some obligatory responsibilities and some responsibilities tied to fun. Needless to say, there is not much discretionary income to play with some of the major summer clothing trends. And that’s where makeup comes into play.

One cool summer trend that I’ve been having fun with is bright colored lips! I have been bold and explored some new color options for my pout.

I was excited to find a nice matte, bold red lipstick in the CoverGirl Queen Collection, which contains some really great color options.

I have also found a vibrant pink lip color that is AMAZEBALLS. I use CoverGirl Queen Collection Powder Puff Pink lipstick, and top it with MAC LustreGlass Fantabulous. The MAC LustreGlass gives this lip the perfect amount of sheen and glitter.

Here are some other options I want to try this season as well:

KA`OIR's Survivor Lipstick -- At $18.99 this option is kind of pricey, but a portion of the proceeds made from the sale go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

OCC Lip Tars -- I have been dying to try these for a while now. At the top of my list is a gorgeous purple color called BellaDonna. The great thing about these lip colors is that they are 100% vegan and cruelty-free.

A bright lip color is sure to get everyone’s attention, so why not give it a try, ladies? Be bold and rock a bold hue!

Have you already tried a nice bright color on your pout? Which color is your favorite?

- A

AB describes herself as a “funky, intelligent, amusing, natural girl” who shares her musings at her personal blog, ..East of the Mississippi. She also uses her feminine point of view to counter the masculine opinions of her male BFF on topics like dating, relationships and online etiquette on a second blog,Friends Don’t Let Friends; where the “he said, she said” style banter incites plenty of laughter and discussion in the comments.

What to Wear: Weddings

Wedding season is in full swing and surely you've been invited to at least one. With so many varying types of ceremonies, figuring out what to wear can be fairly daunting. Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Garden
An outdoor/garden style wedding calls for large, fun prints and flirty dresses like this one at White House / Black Market. If you're worried about your heels digging into the grass, wear a nice wedge.

Beach
Cool and comfortable are the key adjectives for dress at a beach wedding. This pleated, chiffon, hi-lo dress at Asos is a perfect example; the semi-sheer fabric is breathable and you get the best of both worlds in length--especially if you'll wear flats on the beach, then change into your fabulous sandal for an indoor reception.

Cocktail
Get glam with sequins for an evening cocktail affair. Keep the accessories simple and let the dress, like this one with shoulder cut-outs at Nordstrom, speak for itself.

Formal
Wearing formal attire doesn't have to mean donning a skin tight or super poofy gown. Go tailored and streamlined with a simple jersey gown like this one by Calvin Klein

What are you planning to wear to your next summer wedding?

Weekend Treat: Annapolis Ice Cream Company

After reading this post at Glitter Guide about the best ice cream shops on the East Coast, and discovering that one such shop was located in my backyard, I knew it was a must that I take a little road trip to Maryland's lovely state capitol for a taste test. And luckily, I have friends who love treats as much as I do! So on Sunday, AB, DJ and I ventured to Annapolis to see if we agreed with the "best of" designation. We weren't disappointed!

Annapolis Ice Cream Company is located on Main Street in Annapolis, in the center of the hub of the downtown, waterfront area. The sweet little shop features a bevy of rotating flavors which, on this particular day, included ones like Peanut Butter Vanilla, Orange Chocolate, Coffee Heath Bar and Strawberry Oreo. We decided to try Blueberry, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Oreo, Apple Pie and Key Lime Pie.

While all the flavors were really good, we agreed that the standout flavors we tried were the Apple Pie, which had chunks of real apples and pie crust; and the Salted Caramel, which was the perfect mix of salty and sweet (a taste combination which I don't normally like!). DJ also raved about the waffle bowl that her ice cream was served in.

My favorite thing about the ice cream at Annapolis Ice Cream Company is that it's all natural. The cream comes from Maryland and nearby Pennsylvania, and all the ingredients--from the apples to the Oreos--are real. This doesn't necessarily translate to healthy, however, and certainly nothing served there is low calorie (in fact, their ice cream is so hearty and rich that we could each barely finish our portions).  But, a girl needs a treat every now and then, and this sweet little ice cream shop is definitely worth the jaunt to get the perfect summer snack.

Our final verdict? Definitely some of the best ice cream we've ever had!

4 Posh Places to Brunch in Baltimore

If you're planning a fabulous Sunday brunch this weekend, there are 4 restaurants in Baltimore that you must consider. These oldie but goodies--and one pseudo-newbie--are the "best of" brunch in the city. Whether you are new to the area, have guests in town, or are just feeling nostalgic--treat your mouth to a delectable meal at one of these posh places.

Blue Moon Cafe
1621 Aliceanna Street
Baltimore, MD 21231
Go for the specialty items like the potato pancakes or the Cap'n Crunch French Toast. Note: it's a small restaurant so the wait may be long--but it will be worth it!

Miss Shirley's
Roland Park
513 West Cold Spring Lane
Baltimore, MD
21210

I've never had a single thing that I didn't absolutely love, from omelets to the white chocolate raspberry waffles. My favorite brunch appetizer is the fried green tomatoes--delicious.

Marriott Waterfront Hotel
700 Aliceanna Street
Baltimore MD 21202
A flat fee gains you access to this brunch buffet, featuring a number of a la carte breakfast and lunch foods, omelet station, waffle station and--unlimited mimosas!

Teavolve
1401 Aliceanna Street
Baltimore, MD 21231
For lighter fare, visit Teavolve in the Harbor East area. Teavolve is perfect for sipping a great beverage and chatting the afternoon away. The Red Velvet tea latte is a must try. Their brunch also offers half priced mimosas and bloody Marys.

Posh Tip: Get Beach Ready with These 10 Essentials

A menswear inspired fedora or panama hat has dual function: it shields you from the sun, and adds an element of downtown cool to your daytime outfit.

Casual style at the beach is all about throwing on easy breezy pieces. Pair a super comfortable fitted striped skirt with a brightly colored loose tank. Maybe it is the perfect time to try pattern mixing on for size. Mix dots and stripes with these Madewell separates.

Flat sandals are the perfect beach bring-along and the Sam Edelman ‘Gigi’ comes in a multitude of colors and designs so you’re guaranteed to find one that works with your vacation wardrobe.

Nothing screams “fun” at the beach louder than a fun swim suit. Let your inner pin up girl loose with this retro polka dot suit from J. Crew (which is selling out fast!). The side ruching is both adorable and forgiving—helping to camouflage imperfections.

Sunblock is a requirement for all skin during prolonged exposure to the sun. I like to protect mine with Neutrogena ultra sheer dry-touch sunblock. It comes in SPF as high as 100, rubs in easily like lotion and never leaves those unattractive white streaks.

Manage the stress on your tresses by keeping them hydrated with a good conditioner. Herbal Essences Hello Hydration is cost effective and travels well because of the sleek packaging that snaps tightly shut. There’s nothing worse than having products spill inside your weekend bag.

Your lips need hydration after being out in the sun; EOS lip balm is inexpensive and ultra moisturizing with shea butter and vitamin E.

Take along your favorite mags or a light-hearted novel as delicious beach reads.

A great pair of oversized sunglasses is chic anywhere, but especially so at the beach. Channel your inner Jackie O. with this dark amber pair by DvF.

Finally, use a fashionable beach tote to hold all of your beach-worthy items, like this clear striped LeSportsac in creamsicle colors.

What’s your favorite item to take to the beach?

Well-Organized Workspace: The Search for the Perfect Desk

I've been in my condo for just over a year now, and I haven't finished updating my decor. I have a very specific vision in my head for how I want it to look and feel, and I'm willing to wait for the right, special pieces to bring into the mix.

One of the things that is highest in priority to get though is a desk. Since I write so often, it is much more practical and conducive to accomplishment to do it at a desk. I can finally set up a filing system, and have all my calendars, notebooks and other materials in one place.

But it's also way inspiring to designate a space that's specifically for creating. I envision books, inspiration boards and pages torn from magazines littering the desk (in an organized way of course).

I've found that two specific--but opposing--styles of desk speak to me: ones that fit in with a very sleek and modern vibe; as well as very heavy, solid colored vintage desks.

Modern

Vintage

More than anything else, I want something that's really unique and that blends into my existing furniture without matching it too much. For that reason, I think a vintage style might work best, but we'll see what happens. I have a list of a couple of places to visit in Baltimore like Great Finds and Design and Bella Cose, and I'm going to make it a point to look for online pieces that won't be doubled in price by shipping costs.

Where do you go for great pieces of furniture for your home?

Style Savvy Weekend: Ate, Snagged and Wore in Brooklyn

I spent the weekend in Brooklyn with the honey, and though we were both too exhausted from a long week to do much, we did manage to grab a great meal in Williamsburg at Rosarito Fish Shack

The atmosphere was that of a bar, with tightly packed tables and loud music; we were seated just in time to take advantage of happy hour sangria and raw oysters from the live bar. Appetizers of fried calamari and pescadillas set the tone for an amazing meal that also included fish and shrimp tacos. That might not sound amazing initially, but the food was fairly elevated above your normal bar food. The pescadilla, which I expected to be a regular flat quesadilla with fish, was a crispy little pocket of deliciousness, surrounded by some sort of sour cream and guacamole emulsion that was ridiculously tasty. The calamari was accented by fried plantain, capers and finely chopped peppers. And each of the tacos was topped by a different type of slaw (the shrimp taco had pineapple slaw, yum!) along with guacamole.

After the meal, we took a little walk to the park and then grabbed dessert. I had my first frozen yogurt truck experience with Yogo and their super light yogurt topped with fresh fruit--perfectly refreshing on such a hot summer night.

Aside from eating, I also picked up a few little gems this weekend from H&M; they were having one of their fantastic $5, $10, $15 sales. I snagged an animal print romper (similar to this one) that I tried on last summer and failed to buy (but wished I had, so that was a score!) as well as a simple stretch jersey dress. I also picked up a simple striped racerback dress from Loft that will be great beach wear for our upcoming trip.

This weekend, I wore pink and orange neon ombre nails with a little sparkle accent, and got great eye from this Sephora mini shadow compact that I received as a holiday gift last year, but hadn't yet used.

This week will be another busy one, chock full of deadlines (but I'm not complaining about that and will be excited to share another writing project with you next month!)--but I'm sucking it up and looking forward to a long weekend with the honey at the beach in just a week and a half.

Drool Worthy: Cocktails and Glittery Nails

I haven't had very much time to browse the interwebs this week, but in quickly toggling between social networks, what most caught my eye were yummy looking summer cocktails, and fun glitter accented nails.

It has been brutally hot this season and what's more refreshing than a frothy beverage in the heat? A frothy beverage with alcohol (obviously). Don't you get thirsty just looking at these?!

champagne with a splash of St-Germain, a French liqueur made from elderflower blossoms

peach lemonade cooler: ripe peaches, lemonade, and vodka

I've been having lots of fun with nail creations in the past few months so I am always looking for new easy creations to try on my own. These definitely fit the bill.

When away from Pish Posh Perfect, my little fingers have still been busy writing away! I'd love for you to check out my wine review at the LNL Book Club blog, as well as my original Peace Love and Pretty Things post for this week.

I'm glad it's Friday and am looking forward to spending the weekend in Brooklyn with The Honey, bouncing around the city in the trendy animal prints and stripes that I've packed, taking cat naps and eating great food. Hope you have something fabulous planned as well!

Posh Tip: Run Your Workout Gear

Sometimes all it takes to get re-invigorated about working out is to buy something new to wear. You're working on your body so you want to feel great about yourself while doing it.

If you haven't ditched the old sweats and oversized tee in favor of the more fabulous fitted options out there, maybe these crave-worthy workout items will help motivate you to do so.

Get support and style with this Old Navy padded racer back bra—a great choice whether worn alone or under a tee.

Run, stretch and sweat in style with this cute striped Nike tank. The horizontal striping is slimming at the waist and the scoop neck gives it a feminine feel. (I actually just ordered this little gem for myself!)

The right support is crucial to wearing any garment. Feel more confident when you run in this Under Armour Capri pant designed to support, smooth and wick sweat.

How cute is this neon pink Fila running short with black trim? It comes in about 15 covetable colors and has an inner mini-pocket into which you can slip keys or other essentials while you’re working out in style.

Gotta love the seasonal pop of color on this Under Armour running shoe! Just remember that when it comes to athletic footwear, fit is paramount. Be sure to protect yourself by getting fitted for the best shoe for your stride.

There’s nothing like getting both visually and mentally inspired by your clothing. ‘Kick asphalt’ in this vibrant blue tee from Athleta. On the road to fitness it’s mind over matter!

70s Peasant Dress | Style Savvy Weekend Rewind

This weekend was mainly characterized by polar opposites in my eating habits. On Friday night, I engaged in pool time with AB and our friend FH, after which we inhaled Chinese food—which wouldn’t have been so bad since I generally only eat broccoli; except that I ate an entire crab wonton appetizer by myself. And I enjoyed it.

Clockwise from top left: pool time / Jalea at Salsa Grill: crab cake, calamari, shrimp and fried fish / Saturday night dinner outfit. Channeling the 70s with this oldie but goodie peasant dress from Old Navy, gold hoop earrings from Francesca's, Nine West belt, tribal wedges by Madden Girl (also seen here), an orange bag from Banana Republic and my huge bun. / fresh fruit / fresh flowers to brighten up the room / Sunday afternoon snack of dill Havarti slices, flaxseed crackers and fruit

On Saturday AB and FH took me to their favorite Latin restaurant for dinner. At Salsa Grill, we had the most delicious spinach empanadas, and I ordered the Jalea, or seafood platter with steamed veggies and seasoned rice, as my entrĂ©e. As I ordered, I figured a few fried foods wouldn’t kill me; then I got the biggest basket of seafood ever put in front of me, along with a separate plate of the veggies and rice. There was no way I could eat the entire portion, but everything tasted great. For dessert, we ordered apple cherry cobbler, cheesecake and strawberry shortcake to share, which we took to go and paired with a great bottle of Moscato and a movie. Overall, I enjoyed Salsa Grill. It is a little pricey, but you get huge portions so it’s a good value for your money.

On Sunday, I felt it necessary to counteract all my fried indulgences by running 3 miles, then heading to the farmer’s market and my local organic market for some fresh goods. I brought home lots of fresh fish, fruits and veggies, local cheeses and a bouquet of fresh flowers. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of carnations, but this bunch smelled great and at $4.50 was a steal. They freshened up my dining room tablescape very nicely.

I’ll be working hard this week between the full time job and freelance stuff—starting with a social media presentation this afternoon. I’m looking forward to the challenge of getting everything done!

Style Savvy 4th of July

Yesterday's 4th of July holiday was very low-key for me. With it falling on a Wednesday, recreational options felt limited since I needed to be in the office today. I did, however, don a fun patriotic outfit for a yummy lunch at Stanford Grill with the girls (great fun Mrs E. and Mrs H.!). And of course, I had to have my requisite summer treat--frozen yogurt.

eyelet dress: Old Navy (old. similar strapless version here) / blue and white waterfall necklace: Francesca's / arm candy: Rotary, Ralph Lauren (similar here), H&M (old) and gifted / rings: GLITTERRINGS / red shoes: GUESS via Marshall's / bag: Target (old) / sunnies (pictured below): Marc by Marc Jacobs via flash sale

The absolute best ahi tuna salad I have had, hands down. And the cornbread? I'm not a huge
bread fan, but I even ate the crumbs--draw your own conclusions.

Even my fro yo was (accidentally) patriotic yesterday!

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th holiday as well! Please continue to pardon the look of the site while it is under construction. I'm working with a designer on a new look (yay!), but a few things are slightly off as everything comes together.

I also finally got to announce via social media last Friday that I am a monthly blogger at the 'Fro Fashion Week blog for their 'Fro Fashion Friday feature. I'm so excited to be a part of this great blog, and would love it if you click over and check out my first post!
