The Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2011 collection looks both lush and glamorous, yet comfortable and easy to wear.

There are classic Chanel silhouettes and such beautiful modern touches...

What have been some of your favorite looks from the spring 2011 shows so far?

Drool Worthy: Fendi and Proenza Schouler

The Proenza Schouler PS1 has become both a statement bag and a closet staple. The S/S 2011 collection breathes new life into this must-have with new textures and bright colors. I am partial to the classic black medium lux lamb version. It feels sort of "messenger bag all grown up" and I love that all the hardware is black too, instead of gold, silver or bronze. Proenza Schouler PS1 Medium Lux Lamb Bag $1590 at LuisAviaRoma.com

The Fendi S/S 2011 collection is beautiful, but my breath caught in my throat when I spotted the addition of this leather-and-crocodile bag. The supple dual-color leather and the stripe of yellow crocodile down the center are a wonderfully exotic blend. If you prefer the subtleties, you too will appreciate the small two-toned Fendi logo that appears via buckle along the strap of the bag--as opposed to the monogrammed style of some of the classic Fendi pieces. $2900 at Fendi (photo via Purseblog)

Shoe Crush: Louboutin Pigalili Point Toe Pump

The Christian Louboutin Pigalili Point Toe Pump is quite literally a jewel, with its Swarovski crystals and metal studs. If you can afford to adorn your feet in sparkle to the tune of $3545, you may want to look into obtaining this shining star for your collection.

What to Wear: Casual Day Date

Last Sunday I went on a casual daytime date in NYC. In planning my intended outfit in advance of the date, I had to put together a look that would be chic, yet comfy since I knew I would be traveling and then walking a lot that day. As someone who is more comfortable in heels than flats, I needed to opt for something that would make my legs appear longer, and look dressed up without being over the top. My final selections were the Fab Cable Knit Sweater Tunic from Forever 21—belted with a wide grey belt from H&M, plain black leggings from Forever 21, and the Alfani “Becka” boot in black. I carried my Steve Madden Bruffler bag (shown here) because of the cross body function of the long strap. I finished off the look by adding a black and white plaid wool coat I purchased last year, and a bright yellow scarf (shown here) for a dash of color. I think the result was quite fabulous; and so, by the way, was the date J.

Great Find: Alfani Becka Boot at Macy's

The Alfani 'Becka' is a gorgeous riding boot with a 1" flat heel and dual buckle detail at the top. Though it isn't leather, it manages to refrain from having the shiny or plastic look that man-made material can sometimes have. Best of all, it comes in regular and wide calf shaft sizing. You can pick it up in both black and brown; both colors are equally adorable.

Available at Macy's

Originally priced at $109, 'Becka' is now down to just $40 at Macy's online. Though shown here in brown; I actually picked up a pair for myself in black (it was really tough to choose between the two!) in the store this weekend for a little more than $40, and am wishing I had waited! But alas, I love them still. I wore them to walk around NYC all day on Sunday and they were perfectly functional, comfortable and cute.

Winter Kate Win

The lovely ladies at In Their Closet were kind enough to host a giveaway on their site a few weeks ago, and who should be the lucky winner, but yours truly! I was thrilled to be the recipient of a gift certificate to Boutique To You to purchase anything from the Winter Kate by Nicole Richie collection.

I adore Nicole Richie's laid back but graceful bohemian style, and it comes through in her clothing line as well. Though my personal style is a little different, I knew I'd be able to find something I loved for myself with ease. I chose the Winter Kate Fall Smyth Vest, a classic black sleeveless vest that will work perfectly with a variety of pieces already in my closet, and it arrived over the holidays.

the silver buckle detail in the back is a fun accent

This vest is sophisticated enough to pair with a dress and pumps (like my most recently acquired pair of leopard print platforms, seen here), and modern enough that I can slip it on over a tee with jeans and boots. Most importantly, it's a timeless staple that I'll have in my wardrobe for years.

Thanks again to In Their Closet, and to Boutique To You. Both sites were wonderful to work with on fulfillment of the gift certificate, and I would definitely shop Boutique To You again based on their fabulous customer service.

With temperatures so low that you can literally freeze, and winds blowing us furiously about, I take solace in daydreams of spring. I can't wait for sleveless halters, circle skirts, and shading myself from the warm sun--a la this classic photo from the 1950s. Note the dangling earring, the bone colored tote and the matching belt that cinches her waist ever so tightly. This is such a flirty feminine look. I adore.

Sephora + Hello Kitty!

"Sanrio enters into a deal with Sephora for the launch of Hello Kitty Beauty, which will be offered exclusively at Sephora beginning later this month. The Hello Kitty Beauty collection presented by Sephora features a range of colors for lips, eyes and face, as well as nail polish, fragrance and an accessory collection including brushes, compacts and clutches, among other products. Hello Kitty Beauty debuts with launch events and in-store promotions, windows and displays scheduled for March.

The cat and I go way back; she is my favorite iconic little kitten! I am muy emocionada (excited!) about this fusion of playfulness and beauty.

Fashionable Adventures in Chicago

The Big Bro's wedding in Chicago over New Year's weekend was a cause for celebration--and for shopping. There was no way I could make an appearance in the Windy City, but not step foot (however briefly) onto the Magnificent Mile, Chicago's Michigan Avenue. The plethora of amazing stores at all price points was shopgasm inducing, and the size of the stores was breathtaking; each store we entered had at least 3 floors. With precious little time on Saturday between brunch and the wedding ceremony, my mom, cousin and I went on a mini-shopping spree, during which I scored these fantastic items:

Knit Dress with Feather Shoulder Detail, Zara
Leopard Print Platform Court Shoe, Zara

accessories, Forever 21

Prior to leaving home on Thursday, I also snagged a beautiful tri-color BCBG cocktail dress to be worn as my wedding attire. Styled with a Forever 21 shrug, black opaque tights,  Steve Madden glitter pumps and  Felix Rey Mesi Clutch, this was my final wedding fab look (sorry for the fuzziness of the mobile photo!).

I had a wonderful Chicago shopping sampler, but I am anxious to return soon for a full portion. Birthday trip perhaps? Stay tuned.
